Overview of Reptile Vivariums
Housing your reptile is an essential part of caring for your pet. You need to ensure that you have the right size housing as well as other features to make the enclosure as close to the reptiles natural habitat as possible. In order to know what you have to buy for the reptile vivariums you have to know all about your pet’s care. For example snakes and other larger reptiles will go through growing stages. This means you have to find a tank large enough to accommodate them when they reach adulthood or keep switching out tanks as they grow.
The best option, of course, is to get a good sized tank that your pet reptile can grow into. There is a huge range of reptile vivariums from numerous manufacturers. We will examine the various types of vivariums to help you narrow down your choices for your pet reptile.
One of the more popular types of reptile vivariums is the wooden vivarium. This enclosure is wood on the bottom, sides, back, and top. It has glass sliding or pull out doors. The door style will require a reptile tank lock to keep your savvy reptile from escaping. The glass doors allow you to see your reptile from the front. However, the wood will block a 360 degree view. This is one drawback some individuals do not care for. However, the wood and glass doors offer a natural and beautiful tank. It will look great with your furniture and decor, where as other choices may not look as nice.
The other drawback is that the wood vivariums can be more expensive than a simple glass or mesh vivarium. The wood vivariums also have cabinet stands for storage, which can be nice. Wood vivariums come in stacks in which you could have three or four vivariums all in one setup. This is convenient if you plan on having a few different species of reptiles.
Glass reptile vivariums are highly popular as well. As we mentioned they can be less expensive than other options. They also allow for a 360 degree view. Many of the glass vivariums are like aquariums in which the bottom and all four sides are glass. The access panel is on the top. The difference from glass vivariums and aquariums is that the top is heavier than the plastic lid of aquariums.
Mesh is really a last option. It is collapsible and lightweight, which is why some prefer it, but if you want to see your pet reptile it is harder to look through the mesh. The mesh is nylon so you do not have to worry about escape and they come in large sizes for reptiles who may like to climb into trees.
Reptile vivariums and bearded dragon vivariums will range in size from 24inches to over 48inches in width or height depending on the style you prefer. You can expect to pay £25.00 to over £200.00 for reptile vivariums depending on the size and style of the tank you choose for your pet reptile.
